Innsbruck – Schärding
Enjoy the difference between the beautiful mountain scenery of Tyrol and the
slightly hilly countryside in Upper Austria and Bavaria.
The Inntal cycle path from Innsbruck to Passau leads through three regions:
Tyrol, Bavaria and Upper Austria. Especially charming is the Inntal cycle path
because of the difference between the beautiful mountain scenery of Tyrol and
the slightly hilly countryside in Upper Austria and Bavaria.
Tour profile: You follow the natural process of the Inn, the
area is flat, some hills, you need condition.
Day 1: Innsbruck
Individual arrival. If you still have some time, don't miss to explore this
fascinating city by foot or by bike. The "Golden Roof" is worth a visit as much
as the "Berg Isel" - which allows you a wonderful view over this city.
Day 2: Innsbruck - Strass (ca. 45 km/28 miles)
Today you cycle through a part of Tyrol which is still very traditional, and
even now characterized by the former wealth achieved by trading in salt and ore.
Be astonished by the famous crystal objects and jewelry of the “Swarovski
Crystal Worlds” museum. Surrounded by the Tyrolean mountains you cycle along the
river Inn until Strass.
Day 3: Strass - Kufstein (ca. 36 km/22 miles)
Today you pass magnificent old castles and fortresses. You arrive at Kufstein
(“pearl of Tyrol”) which delights its visitors with the largest outside-organ of
the world as well as a wonderful old quarter .
Day 4:
Kufstein - Wasserburg (ca. 68 km/42 miles)
Heading out of Kufstein you leave Tyrol and cross the border
to Bavaria. Along the dam you cycle to Rosenheim. Today the tour ends in
Wasserburg which is almost completely surrounded by the river Inn.
Day 5: Wasserburg - Mühldorf (ca. 49 km/31 miles)
In Bavaria the cycle path leads you along the river Inn, you pass lovely little
villages and finally reach Mühldorf. A lot of sights such as the former summer
residence of the archbishop are waiting for you.
Day 6: Mühldorf - Braunau (ca. 52 km/32 miles)
Today you make a cycle tour to Altöting which is the most important place of
pilgrimage of the catholic Bavaria. From Burghausen you cycle back to Austria
where you can visit the nature reserve “Unterer Inn” with its large variety of
birds and plants.
Day 7: Braunau - Schärding (ca. 53 km/33 miles)
You cycle along the nature reserve and pass the picturesque castle Hagenau. Via
Obernberg you continue to Schärding, a beautiful baroque village.
Day 8: Schärding
Individual departure or extension.
Arival days: Saturday and Sunday from April 30 till October
