THE INN - CYCLE - PATH  Innsbruck - Passau

Very few other rivers in Europe offer such a varied and exciting landscape than the river Inn. From the imposing mountains of Tyrol to the softer hills of Upper Bavaria to the green fields and meadows of Upper Austria. Enjoy the medieval villages, castles and fortresses along the river Inn, famous for it´s emerald green waters.           

CHARAKTERISTIK: mostly flat, some slightly hilly stretches; asphalted bike paths, gravel roads along the banks of the river and some quiet country roads.

ROUTE:
Nearest Airport/Train-Station: Innsbruck
Day 1: Innsbruck   Individual arrival.

Day 2: Innsbruck - Strass (approx. 45 km/28 miles)
Surrounded by a phantastic scenery you bike through an almost medieval part of Tyrol, where the production of salt, or and glass artifiacts brought prosperity to the region. You should take the time to visit the "Kristallwelten" (famous Swarovski crystals).

Day 3: Strass - Kufstein (approx. 35 km/22 miles)
From the bike path you admire great castles and fortresses and pass through quaint villages. Do not miss the charming old city center of Kufstein.

Day 4: Kufstein - Wasserburg (approx. 68 km/43 miles)
Today you leave Tyrol and you will follow the Inn on the cycle path to the baroque city of Rosenheim in Bavaria. Wasserburg, your today´s destination, is almost entirely surrounded by the river.

Day 5: Wasserburg - Mühldorf (approx.46 km/29 miles)
Calmly the river Inn winds it's way through the soft hills of Lower Bavaria. Whilst passing through sleepy villages you will be reminded of ancient times. You reach the medieval village of Mühldorf, the former residence of this principalities bishop.You will find lots of sights, one of the most intersting one is the summer castle.
Day 6: Mühldorf - Braunau (approx. 51 km/ 32 miles)
The most famous place of pilgrimage in Bavaria, Altöttigen, is on your path today. Now you are not far away from the Austrian border and the old trading town of Braunau.

Day 7: Braunau - Schärding (approx. 53 km/33 miles)
You continue on the bike path through the nature reserve " Lower Inn" and soon you shall admire the water castle Hagenau. Via Obernberg on the Inn you reach the enchanting baroque village of Schärding.

Day 8. Schärding
