Baltic Sea Cycling Tour Lübeck to Stralsund (Tour MEC 02 or MEC 03)
Tour length: approx. 290 km
Tour duration: 9 days/ 8 nights (MEC 02) or 6 days/5 nights (MEC 03)
1st day: Arrival in Luebeck
in the course of the day. Stroll through the old heart of the town. Enchanting little shops, original pubs are all found in the pretty old heart of the town surrounded by ports, moats and ponds. Overnight stay in Luebeck.
2nd day: Luebeck- Boltenhagen approx. 42 km
You leave the town on a short trip to Travemuende. In the Baltic health resort so steeped in tradition at the mouth of the Trave, the Baltic Sea cycling tour begins. You cross to Priwall on the ferry and cycle through charming countrysides, through the Kluetzer Winkel to the Baltic resort Boltenhagen. Overnight stay.
3rd day: Boltenhagen – Wismar approx. 32 km
The tour goes past cliffs and short sections along the beach of the Wismar bay to the centre of the Hanse town Wismar. The old Hanse town is one of the most beautiful in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania. The glamour and power of the once so mighty Hanse is reflected in the magnificent buildings. Overnight stay.
4th day: Wismar – Kuehlungsborn approx. 42 km
The old heart of Wismar was luckily only little destroyed in the war, it is worth looking at. You cycle through the Kuehlung, a countryside with abundant forests and valleys of the Weichsel glaciation period to Kuehlungsborn. Overnight stay in Kuehlungsborn.
5th day: Kuehlungsborn - Warnemuende approx. 35 km (Tour MEC 03 ends here)
The countryside spreads afar and flat to Warnemuende, the Baltic sea resort before the gates of Rostock. You cycle along the coast, or those wanting to, can also make a little detour with the museum train "Molli" to Bad Boberan and leisurely make their way up-country to Warnemuende.
6th day: Warnemuende - Fischland/Darss approx. 55 km
Warnemuende, where the Warnow flows into the Baltic Sea. A stroll along the banks of the old river, where old fishing boats and large sailing yachts moor is surely a wonderful experience. Along the high embankment to Wustrow and the artists colony Ahrenshoop. Overnight stay on the Fischland (Peninsula)..
7th day: Darss - Barth approx. 40 km
You reach Prerow through the "Darss Jungle". An excursion to the West Beach should certainly be included, a wildly romantic coastal scenery is waiting to welcome you. Now you make your way to explore the national park Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft / West-Pomeranian countryside between bays. Here we find some of the most important migration stations of cranes and grey geese. Overnight stay.
8th day: Barth - Stralsund approx. 46 km
You leave the town along the Barther Bodden / countryside between bays and cycle to Stralsund. The Hanse town with its distinctive three towers is an eye-catcher from afar. You end your cycling tour here. Overnight stay in Stralsund.
9th day: Return home under your own steam.
